Poco is bringing two new phones to India on March 17 and honestly both of them look really interesting. The Poco X8 Pro and the Poco X8 Pro Max 5G are both mid range gaming phones and the specs on both are genuinely good for the price. X8 Pro has a 6.59 inch 1.5K OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The X8 Pro Max has a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with the same 120Hz and same 3,500 nits brightness. Both screens are sharp and bright. You can use them outside in full sunlight and see everything clearly.
The only real difference is the size. If you like a phone that fits comfortably in one hand, go for the X8 Pro. If you watch a lot of videos and play games and want that bigger screen experience, the X8 Pro Max feels better for that. Quality wise both are equally good, just different sizes.
Processors

Both phones have a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 20MP Samsung OV20B front camera. But the main sensors are different and that matters.
The X8 Pro uses the Sony IMX882 sensor. Sony sensors are known for producing natural and clean photos and this one handles good lighting really well. It is a trustworthy sensor.
The X8 Pro Max uses the Light Fusion 600 sensor. This sensor is built to handle low light better. So if you take a lot of photos in the evening, indoors, or in dim lighting, the X8 Pro Max will give you noticeably better results.

Heavy gamers, people who are always on their phone, people who travel a lot and cannot always find a charger, this battery will take care of all of that. You will charge it once and genuinely not worry about it for the rest of the day and sometimes the next day too.
Software and Other Features
Both phones run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Both have IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance which is really good for mid range phones. Most phones at this price only give you IP67 or IP68. Getting IP69 means these phones can handle high pressure water jets too, not just splashes and submersion.
Both also have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is faster and more accurate than the optical fingerprint sensors most budget phones use. And both have an IR blaster so you can use your phone as a remote for your TV, AC, set top box, all of it.

Buy the X8 Pro Max if gaming matters to you seriously, if you want the strongest chip in this price range, if you want a battery that genuinely lasts longer than anything else here, and if you are okay spending Rs 58,000 to Rs 63,000 for a phone that is clearly better in all the areas that count.
Honestly the Poco X8 Pro Max is the smarter pick if your budget allows it. The better chip, bigger battery, and better low light camera all together make it worth the extra money. But if Rs 44,000 is your budget, the X8 Pro is not a phone you will regret buying either.
