tecno pova curve 2 5G launched in india on FEB 20, 2026

Tecno Pova Curve 2 Review: Should You Buy This?

Tecno just launched the Pova Curve 2 in India and i have to say, this phone has one feature that immediately grabbed my attention. An 8000mAh battery. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s literally Eight Thousand. This is the biggest battery i have seen in any Tecno phone so far. But there is more to this phone than just the big battery. Let me walk you through everything and tell you what i really think about this phone.

Price and When You Can Buy

tecno pova curve 2 5G -india's first dimesnsity 7100 smartphone launched

Let me start with the most important part, the price. The Tecno Pova Curve 2 comes in two versions. The first one has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, priced at ₹27,999. The second one has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, priced at ₹29,999. Now, Tecno is giving you a discount of ₹3,000 during the first sale. So you can actually get this phone for ₹24,999 or ₹26,999 if you buy early.

The sale starts on February 20 on Flipkart. You can buy this phone in three colors: Mystic Purple, Storm Titanium, and Melting Silver. From what I have seen in the pictures, the Mystic Purple looks really nice. Tecno is also offering no cost EMI options for 3 or 6 months. So if you do not want to pay full amount at once, you can split it into monthly payments without any extra charges.

Display

It has a 6.78 inch 3D curved AMOLED display. Now, curved displays usually come on expensive phones, so seeing one on a phone under ₹30,000 is actually surprising. The screen has 1.5K resolution which is 2644 x 1208 pixels. This is sharper than regular Full HD screens.

But here is what really excites me. The display has 144Hz refresh rate. Most phones have 60Hz or 90Hz or maximum 120Hz. This phone goes all the way to 144Hz. For you, this means when you scroll through apps, play games or watch videos, everything will move super smooth.

The screen can go up to 4500 nits peak brightness. This is crazy bright. You will have no problem seeing your screen even in the brightest afternoon sun. Tecno has also put Gorilla Glass 7i protection on top, so the screen will not scratch easily. The phone also has IP64 rating, which means it can handle some dust and water splashes. Not full water proof, but basic protection is there.

One more thing I want to tell you. The phone is only 7.42mm thick. Think about this. They have put an big battery inside but still kept the phone this slim. That is actually impressive engineering.

Battery

Now let me talk about the main attraction of this phone. The 8000mAh battery. I have tested many phones over the years, and I can tell you, this battery size is rare. Most phones have 5000mAh or 6000mAh batteries. This phone has 2000mAh to 3000mAh more than that.

What does this mean? That is a full day plus extra. If you are a normal user who uses WhatsApp, makes calls, watches some videos, and browses social media, this battery will easily last you two full days. Maybe even three days if you use your phone lightly.

For heavy users who game a lot or watch videos non stop, you will still get through one full day without needing to charge. No more battery anxiety. No more carrying power banks everywhere. This phone will just keep going.

Tecno has also added 45W fast charging. With that big 8000mAh battery, charging will take some time, but 45W is fast enough that you should be able to charge from 0 to 50 percent in about 40 to 45 minutes. Full charge will probably take around 90 to 100 minutes. Not the fastest, but acceptable given the battery size.

India’s First Dimensity 7100 Phone

It runs on MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor. This is the first phone in India to use this chip. The Dimensity 7100 is built on 6 nanometer technology. It is an octa core chip that runs between 2.0GHz to 2.4GHz speeds. From what I understand about this processor, it should handle heavy tasks and gaming quite well.

For you, this means you can play games like BGMI, COD Mobile, Free Fire on high graphics without major lag. The phone should not heat up too much. Apps will open fast. Multitasking between many apps will work smooth. Overall performance should be solid.

Tecno has put a dedicated G1 chip for 5G connectivity. This chip supports 20 different 5G bands. So when 5G becomes common in your area, your phone will be ready with good network support. There is also an SE1 wifi chip for stable and strong wifi connectivity.

The phone runs on ELLA AI 2.0 which supports Indian languages. You can use AI features in Hindi and other regional languages, not just English. This is helpful if you are more comfortable with Hindi or your local language.

Camera

For photography, having a dual camera setup on the back. The main camera is 50MP with f/1.7 aperture. There is also a 2MP macro lens for close up shots. For selfies, you get a 13MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Let me be completely honest with you here. This is not a camera focused phone. The camera is okay for daily photos in good light. When you take photos in sunlight or bright indoor lighting, colors will look decent. Detail will be acceptable. But when light goes down at evening or night, photo quality will drop. You will see noise and blur.

The f/1.7 aperture on main camera is good because it lets in more light. This helps a bit in low light. The 2MP macro lens is just there for close up shots of flowers or small objects. It will not blow your mind with quality.

For selfies, 13MP is decent. Good enough for video calls and casual selfies for social media. Tecno has beauty modes if you like smoothened faces, but I prefer natural looking photos personally.

If camera is very important to you, this might not be the best choice. But if you mainly care about battery life and performance, then the camera is good enough for basic needs.

Build Quality and Design

The phone has a plastic body with premium finishing. It is not metal or glass, but the plastic used feels good quality. Not cheap or toyish. The curved display gives it a stylish premium look. When you hold the phone, those curved edges feel nice in your hand.

The phone has Gorilla Glass 7i on the screen, so scratches will not come easily. The IP64 rating means you can use it with slightly wet hands or in light rain without worry. But do not drop it in water or use it in heavy rain.

At 7.42mm thickness, the phone is really slim considering it has such a huge battery. Most phones with big batteries are thick and heavy. Tecno has done a good job keeping this slim.

The three color options all look good in pictures. Mystic Purple is eye catching and different. Storm Titanium is for people who want a bold look. Melting Silver is the safe simple choice. Pick whatever matches your style.

My Honest Opinion

After looking at everything, here is what I honestly think. The Tecno Pova Curve 2 makes sense if battery life is your number one priority. That 8000mAh battery is the hero of this phone. If you are tired of charging your phone every day, if you hate battery anxiety, if you travel a lot and need long battery backup, this phone will solve your problem.

The 144Hz curved AMOLED display is also a nice bonus. Not many phones under ₹30,000 give you curved display with such high refresh rate. The Dimensity 7100 processor is powerful enough for gaming and heavy use. The slim design despite the huge battery is impressive.

The weak points are the camera, which is just average, and the plastic build, which some people might not like. The phone is also quite heavy because of the battery.

Who should skip? If you take lots of photos and camera quality matters a lot, look elsewhere. If you want premium metal or glass build, this will disappoint. If you want a super light phone, this might feel heavy.

At the discounted price of ₹24,999 for base model and ₹26,999 for higher model, the value is actually quite good. You are getting that massive battery, curved display, powerful processor, and 5G support. Compare this with Realme, Redmi, POCO phones in same price range and see what features matter most to you.

The phone goes on sale February 20 on Flipkart. If you are interested, I suggest you keep an alarm for 12 PM that day and buy during first sale to get the ₹3,000 discount. Also check what bank offers are available. Sometimes you can get extra discount with specific credit or debit cards.

One last thing I want to tell you. Tecno phones get regular software updates, but not as many as Samsung or OnePlus. You will get security updates for sure, but major Android version updates might be limited. Keep this in mind if software updates are important to you.

Overall, the Tecno Pova Curve 2 is a solid option if battery life is what you need most. It is not perfect, but for the price, it gives good value.

FAQs

Full charge takes around 90 to 100 minutes. You get 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes, which is enough for half day use. Reasonable time for such big battery.

Yes, you need special curved screen protectors. Regular flat tempered glass will not stick properly. Buy protectors and cases specifically made for Pova Curve 2 from official stores.

Not officially confirmed yet. Most Tecno phones support memory cards, but check when phone arrives. If you need more space, better buy the 256GB variant directly.

Completely safe. Tecno uses certified battery cells with safety features. Just use original charger and avoid extreme heat. Do not use cheap duplicate chargers for safety.
